Home-Start Bristol very kindly invited me to their Regional Cluster Meeting yesterday to share my top tips for evaluation with Home-Start schemes from across the South West. This follows on from my work with Home-Start Bristol last year, training their staff and trustees to self-evaluate their Big Lottery Fund project. I’ve also worked with a number of Home-Start schemes around the UK on externally evaluating their Big Lottery Fund projects and it was good to share this learning with other schemes, through a presentation entitled “An A-Z of Evaluating Home-Start” and a follow up workshop to explore specific challenges and share different methods and approaches.
The real highlight of the event was an excellent talk from Home-Start UK’s chief executive, Rob Parkinson, who spoke about the importance of social innovation and sustainability for Home-Start schemes and shared some very impressive statistics on the combined social return on investment across the Home-Start network. I’m pleased to hear the the workshop received positive feedback from the schemes who attended.
