We were thrilled to hear from one of our recent evaluation clients, Home-Start Shepway, that they have been awarded a £499,999 Big Lottery Fund grant to continue New Beginnings, a specialist project supporting families affected by domestic abuse in Shepway, Kent.

New Beginngings supports women affected by domestic abuse to develop individual pathways of support by providing a comprehensive range of support and advisory services to meet their needs. I’ve seen the impact of this project first hand, having interviewed a number of mums who have been helped by the project when I was commissioned to evaluate the current Big Lottery Fund project, with a view to enabling the charity to demonstrate it’s impact ahead of applying for continuation funds.

Home-visiting is key to the service and Home-Start Shepway also provided training programmes and support groups for women enabling them to develop self-esteem, self-confidence and long-term employment and enable women to rebuild their lives.

Congratulations to Sam and the team, this is a huge achievement for local families in Shepway.

I'm passionate about the potential of charities and social enterprises and run my own consultancy helping them to evaluate impact and develop strategy. I'm particularly passionate about social inclusion and engaging vulnerable and marginalised groups. Also a proud Dad and future MAML :)
