We recently reviewed the Home-Start Consortium in Suffolk, which comprises three local schemes. Independently, the three schemes support families throughout Suffolk who are dealing with a range of challenges including mental health issues, disability, isolation and low confidence and self-esteem.
Through the Suffolk Home-Start Consortium, the charities were commissioned by Suffolk County Council to deliver a Service Level Agreement to support families across the whole county.
We were asked to undertake a strategic review of their consortium arrangements with a view to summarising their shared impact, exploring the potential for closer partnership working and identifying the next strategic steps for the consortium as whole.
Our strategic review analysed key information about the Home-Start schemes, both independently and as a whole, and engaged key stakeholders; including staff, trustees and external funders, culminating in a final written report and, afterwards, additional practical support to implement our recommendations.
Joan Bostock, Suffolk Home-Start Consortium chair, shares her experience of working with Steve:
“Steve is extremely well-prepared, thorough and professional and relates well to trustees, staff and external stakeholders. The feedback he gave was very relevant and useful.
After his report, Steve supported us to clarify our thinking and help us formulate our plans for the future. It was extremely useful to gain an outside view from someone who understands how Home-Start works.
Working with Steve was invaluable to the Suffolk Home-Start Consortium but it was also an enjoyable and enlightening experience, one which I would recommend to other charities.”
