We’re thrilled to hear that another of our charity clients, Home-Start East Suffolk, has received some good news from the Big Lottery Fund this week. The Martlesham-based charity is set to receive a grant of £441,217, which will help Home-Start to increase support to families living in Lowestoft and Waveney district.
I do have a soft-spot for Home-Start East Suffolk, not only because they’re local to me but they’re also the first Home-Start scheme I ever worked with when I was commissioned to produce an external evaluation of their previous Big Lottery Fund project in 2013. I was so taken with the simplicity of their model, matching local volunteers with local families with young children, that I’ve been a real advocate of the Home-Start approach ever since. Home-Start East Suffolk has commissioned me on several occasions since then, most recently to evaluate the support they provide in partneship with the two other Suffolk Home-Start schemes under their service level agreement with Suffolk County Council.
Well done to Tara and the team! These are difficult times for families and it’s always good to hear when charities like Home-Start are given much-needed funds to help them as much as possible.
