Home-Start East Suffolk and Home-Start South Suffolk commissioned Steve to undertake due diligence ahead of their potential merger.
The two Home-Start schemes had already worked successfully together as part of a consortium and had achieved considerable fundraising success. Trustees and staff felt that a merger would increase the sustainability of the charities and secure their potential to impact in the lives of local families for many years to come.
Steve worked with both schemes to review relevant documents, engage with key stakeholders and consider the compatibility of key areas, such as governance, funding, people skills and services. The final report was presented to Trustees from both schemes in early 2017, with the schemes looking to finalise the merger later this year.
Tara Somers, Scheme Manager of Home-Start East Suffolk and Lance Spraggons, Chair of Home-Start South Suffolk, share their experience of working with Steve:
“Steve has completed a number of pieces of work, both for our scheme and the Home Start Suffolk consortium, and they have all been delivered on time and on budget. Steve has supported us with evaluation, a strategic review of our consortium and, most recently, undertook due diligence in relation to our potential merger.
Most importantly, Steve Allman is a consultant who truly understands the ethos of Home Start so delivers to reflect this and recognises the importance of our standing in the community. Steve listens and gives a very balanced view. He is well respected.”Lance
“Steve describes himself as a socially conscious consultant and we’ve found this to be most accurate. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Steve on a variety of projects, including evaluation and strategic support. Steve is adept at working with a range of stakeholders, clients and staff. He’s made a number of recommendations based on sound evidence and has worked with us to implement these. The quality of his work has led to direct improvements within the charity and has helped us secure increased sustainable income. I fully recommend Steve Allman’s ability to focus and direct any charity.”
