The Dystonia Society

The Dystonia Society provides support, advocacy and information for anyone affected by dystonia, a neurological condition which affects at least 70,000 people in the UK.

Dystonia affects at least 70,000 people in the UK. It’s the term used to describe uncontrollable and often painful muscle spasms caused by incorrect signals from the brain which can force the body into twisting, repetitive movements or abnormal postures.

The Dystonia Society commissioned Steve Allman to undertake an external evaluation of their Department for Health funded project to support people with the condition, which included interviewing people with dystonia and various health professionals.

I'm passionate about the potential of charities and social enterprises and run my own consultancy helping them to evaluate impact and develop strategy. I'm particularly passionate about social inclusion and engaging vulnerable and marginalised groups. Also a proud Dad and future MAML :)
